Settlers Crossing Bohl Cabin
Property Description
An 1850 log cabin, moved from Missouri
They don't build them like this anymore - and in a way, this one wasn't built here at all. Bohl Cabin began its life in Missouri in 1850: a two-story log cabin, hand-hewn and squared by people who measured a house in generations. Rather than lose it, someone took it apart, moved it south, and rebuilt it log by log at Settlers Crossing, keeping the joinery, the timber, and the character intact. The result is the real thing - hand-hewn log walls, antique furnishings that suit the age of the place, and a wood-burning fireplace that still does exactly what it was built to do.
Two bedrooms sleep four inside a cabin that feels genuinely old in the best way - solid, snug, and quiet, with the low warmth that log walls hold onto. The restoration slipped modern comfort in where you need it and left the 1850 craftsmanship everywhere you look. Light a fire, settle in, and the century falls away.
The grounds do the rest. Settlers Crossing keeps its stretch of the Hill Country the way it ought to be - oaks, open fields, and room to breathe. Friendly farm animals graze the property, and the wildlife keeps its own schedule: deer at dusk, birds at first light. After dark, the sky opens up the way it can't near a city. And because a cabin this old has stories, our Fredericksburg AI Historical Guide can tell you where Bohl Cabin came from and how it made the trip - before you arrive and once you're here.

There's no shortage of Hill Country to explore. Fredericksburg's Main Street has shops, galleries, German bakeries, and some of the best dining in the region.
The surrounding wine country is one of the largest in Texas, with dozens of tasting rooms within a short drive. Luckenbach - just down the road - is a legendary little dancehall town with live music and cold drinks.
Enchanted Rock offers hiking and famous stargazing, the Willow City Loop is a classic scenic drive (spectacular in bluebonnet season), and Old Tunnel State Park draws crowds for its nightly bat emergence.
For quieter days, the grounds of Settlers Crossing are a destination all their own - a walking trail winds through the oaks and pastures, and Paco, our resident donkey, is usually out to say hello.
